Position vacant - COPES
25-10-2011
ARAFEMI currently provides carer peer to peer support within three major metro hospitals. These facilitate early access to support at a time when carers most identify feelings of high distress, feelings of loss and grief, concern for their loved one and high information and support needs. Carers engaged with ARAFEMI and St Vincent’s Mental Health Family and Carer Participation Committee have articulated the desire for further peer to peer support that respects their lived experiences and are able to provide flexible levels of support across the journey of caring. This position will provide vital support and information to mental health carers within the acute inpatient unit and community settings of St Vincent’s Mental Health to complement the work of the carer consultant and treating teams.

For this exciting and challenging position, we are seeking a highly motivated person with a sound knowledge of carers and peer support issues to work as part of the team. Our emphasis is in recovery and utilising the lived experience to support and promote the wellbeing of families and carers supporting people affected by mental health issues. This position involves working flexible hours across the community and acute inpatient settings (approx. one evening per week).

Please see the position description for more information.
